Due to continuous rainfall over the past few days, the area from Khambachen up to Ramtang, Lhonak, and the North Kanchenjunga Pangpema Base Camp (5,142 m) — all within Ward No. 6 of Phaktanglung Rural Municipality, Taplejung District has received a heavy accumulation of snow. The entire region is now blanketed by snow, making travel nearly impossible.It is still uncertain how many tourists are currently in the area above Khambachen. Under normal conditions, locals can reach the area within about one hour, but according to Sonam Sherpa, who operates a teashop and is currently staying in the Ramtang area, it now takes around ten hours to walk the same distance due to the deep snow.
