The Māori rock carvings at Mine Bay in Taupō 🇳🇿

Carved into the cliffs in the late 1970s by Māori artist Matahi Brightwell, the 14-metre-tall carving honours Ngātoroirangi, a revered Māori navigator and spiritual leader.

The carvings can only be reached by boat, with scenic cruises, sailing trips, and kayaking tours available from Taupō.
