✈️🧳 If you’re travelling internationally through Auckland Airport, there’s a small but important change to the check-in process now in place.

As part of the airport’s ongoing development, a temporary check-in area—Zone T—has been introduced. Passengers assigned to this zone will complete check-in near the Transport Hub, before proceeding into the terminal to finalise bag drop at Zone B.

It’s a straightforward process, but does involve an additional step, so allowing a little extra time at the airport is recommended.

Check-in zones can be confirmed within 24 hours of departure, and airport staff will be on hand to guide you on arrival.

These changes are part of a broader upgrade to enhance the international terminal experience over time.

🇬🇧 Important Update for British Travellers

If you’re a British citizen living abroad and planning travel to the UK, new rules mean you may need to take action before your next trip.

From 25 February 2026 British expats and Dual nationals must enter the UK on a valid British passport

Using a second nationality passport to re-enter the UK will no longer be permitted. Even showing an expired British passport as proof of citizenship will not meet the new requirements.

British travellers MUST ensure their UK passport is renewed and valid - many expat Britons who have relied on their second passport will now need to renew their British passport to re-enter or reside in the UK.

Also from 25 February 2026, ETA becomes mandatory for non-visa nationals
Travellers from 85 countries including New Zealand, Australia, the United States, Canada and many European nations will not be able to legally travel to the UK without an ETA once enforcement begins.

Although the ETA system has existed since 2023, these rules have not been enforced until 25 February 2026.
