Just one day from officially opening the new shop, we’ve finished the final touches after the 6 months of building and refurbishment work.
After getting all the pianos in place last week, it became apparent that the acoustic was too lively. It can be difficult to predict this aspect as the sound does change once grand piano lids are up, so deflecting the sound from simply bouncing from wall or window to another. It did change but not enough.
We still had a reverb time of nearly 2 seconds, and ideally need under 1 second.
With the help of the guys from Acoustic Solutions we’ve achieved that today. Now pianos can be heard with a lot more clarity and I’m really pleased with the result.
Looking forward to seeing you at our grand opening, 10am to 7pm Thursday to Sunday.

We are absolutely delighted to announce the opening our new retail wing of Global Piano Services in Albany, New Zealand.
We are specialising in world class fully rebuilt European pianos, in particular, Steinway.

The rebuild work is done in partnership with our senior technician Peter Salisbury and a team of highly skilled professionals in Europe and particularly Poland. This team have some of the finest specialists I have ever encountered.

We are also retailing used Yamaha instruments. Between these fine Japanese instruments and the European pianos, we really have the quality market covered.

We are delighted to announce that we are expanding the sales side of GPS. We are now offering a bigger and wider range of fine pianos, mostly Steinway, but also other fine European instruments.
We have just taken delivery of 3 absolutely superb pianos, a model ‘B’, a model ‘A’ and an ‘O’. They are all older instruments with original soundboards but new mechanics throughout. Their condition as litterally ‘as new’
The sound on all of these pianos is like going back in time. The character is totally different from the pianos of today. They are simply incredible instruments.

This week we’re privilaged to be contracted to set up the pianos for the 31st Singapore Piano Festival at the wonderful Victoria Hall. Peter Salisbury is our technician on this event and we’re delighted that an old mutual friend Paul Lewis is part of the superstar line up of performers.
We are proud to work on events such as these and to extend our technical services to our clients worldwide.

An exciting time for us at GPS as we open a new retail operation in Auckland. We are selling Yamaha and Kawai but will from now on be stocking a significant number of fantastic European pianos, in particular Steinway and Bosendorfer. These instruments from the golden periods of piano building and are rebuilt to factory standards. In my 40 years in the business I’ve rarely heard pianos like this. They are simply phenomenal. We will be selling from NZ but can of course ship pianos worldwide.

For those of you who are keen to explore something a little different, check out the recording label 'Rattle Records'. They specialize in contemporary recordings and are based on New Zealand. We work frequently with Rattle on their piano projects. Check out the album 'Inland' which we was released last year with Michael Houstoun, available as a download or CD from Rattle's website.

Hi all. We're delighted to have a close association with Singapore Symphony Orchestra and have been involved in setting up their pianos for recordings over the last year or so. Recently released was Rach Pag with soloist Yevgeny Sudbin. A great recording on the BIS label (BIS-SACD-1988). Check it out !
