Fort Stony Batter is a WWII Coastal Defence Fortress located at the Eastern end of Waiheke Island and comprises of 1.2km of passages, tunnels, stairwells all incredibly tunnelled by hand!

The Sands, apartment 21 offers the ideal retreat to rest and relax. Enjoy the beautiful beach on your doorstep and the many wineries, scenic walks, artists studios and cafes. Only 35 minutes by ferry from Auckland, stunning views and a lifestyle most can only dream about.

The Sands Apartments are situated on the beachfront at Onetangi. There are two onsite outdoor barbecues for guests to use. Onetangi beach is very safe for swimming and great for walking; it’s approximately 1.5km long. It is an easy walk to the other end of the beach where you will find three great beachfront bars and restaurants
The island boasts more than a dozen high-quality vineyards, many with restaurants on-site. Enjoy local wine while looking out over vine-covered valleys to the blue sea beyond.
Waiheke Island is a national taonga (treasure) with many special places. It is also home to historic sites wildlife and diverse habitats; the island is an important part of New Zealand’s landscape.
Waiheke Island is known internationally as one of the most beautiful islands in the world. It is easily accessed by both passenger ferry and car ferry. A local bus service meets each ferry and drops guests off just a two-minute walk from The Sands Apartments. Both cars and scooters are available for hire and can be picked up at Matiatia wharf.
