Athens surprised me in the best possible way during my recent travels through Greece.

While the Acropolis is one of the world’s most iconic historical sites, I was so pleased to discover a dedicated lift helping visitors with mobility challenges and wheelchair users access the top of this incredible landmark.

As a travel advisor specialising in travel for families and individuals with physical and hidden disabilities, I’m always searching for ways to make travel more achievable and less overwhelming for my clients. That means not only researching destinations, but also speaking with travellers who have real firsthand experience navigating accessibility challenges around the world.

These conversations are invaluable and help me better understand the realities of travelling through destinations like Greece, finding out what works well, what can be difficult and what support or planning can make the experience smoother.

Accessible travel takes extra coordination, patience and planning, but with the right support, amazing experiences are absolutely possible. ❤️✈️

What a privilege to have two really lovely family visiting us all the way from New Zealand 🇳🇿 , exploring our beautiful North West Coast of Northern Ireland and celebrating a very special young lady’s birthday ❤️

They were lucky enough to spend time at the amazing Badminton Horse Trials before heading over here to Northern Ireland to explore, ride horses, celebrate a birthday and catch up with family — what a trip and what memories to make ✨

As a travel advisor specialising in travel for families and individuals with physical and hidden disabilities, I’m always looking for practical accessibility solutions and speaking with travellers who have real firsthand experience navigating these destinations.

In Pompeii I had the opportunity to be part of a guided tour that included a person in a wheelchair and I discovered the existence of Pompei for All, an accessible route through the ancient ruins of Pompeii designed for wheelchair users and travellers with mobility challenges.

The route still requires a sense of adventure and a bit of muscle power, but it gives a great overview of the huge historical site and covers the most important findings on display.

Experiences like this help me better support my clients and show that with the right planning and support, incredible travel experiences are absolutely possible.
