Behind every well maintained site is a team helping keep communities safe, welcoming and running smoothly.

During a recent audit at the Chorus Matiere MTW UAX exchange along the Forgotten World Highway, our team saw firsthand the importance of maintaining infrastructure to a high standard in regional New Zealand.

Located opposite a popular stop on the Forgotten World Rail Trail, the site is regularly seen by both international and local visitors exploring the history and beauty of the Matiere area.

Programmed Facility Management is proud to support Chorus with ongoing maintenance that helps protect infrastructure, present the site professionally and contribute positively to the local community experience.

As Programmed celebrates 75 years across New Zealand and Australia this year, we remain committed to building outstanding people, strong customers and great communities.

We’re proud to celebrate the Ngā Iti Kahurangi programme winning its division in the Leadership category at the 2026 Āpōpō Asset Management Excellence Awards.

Delivered alongside the Ministry of Education and valued partners, the programme continues to support better outcomes for small and remote schools across Aotearoa.

A great achievement for everyone involved and a special milestone during Programmed’s 75th year.

When severe weather hit the Gisborne Region, a remote Chorus telecommunications site lost its membrane roof, exposing critical infrastructure to further risk.

With a second weather event approaching, Programmed Facility Management acted quickly to coordinate a rapid emergency response. Helicopter access was arranged for personnel, materials and equipment, allowing works to be delivered in a highly challenging environment.

Despite complex logistics, deteriorating weather and access constraints, the team completed a full re roof and secured the site within 15 working days.

This project is one of many examples of Programmed’s ability to respond quickly and protect critical infrastructure when it matters most.

Programmed’s partnership with the Māori and Pasifika Trades Training Programme, supported by the Tertiary Education Commission, is focused on creating real pathways into the trades for Māori and Pasifika learners.

Sio Tafiti and Filipo Asu Buiroata are a great example of that in action.
Now working across daily maintenance and project work, they’ve grown into their roles, contributing both independently and as part of wider teams.

More recently, they shared their experiences with new MPTT candidates on a panel, offering insight into their journey and what the programme can lead to.

A strong reminder that with the right support, pathways don’t just start careers, they build confidence, capability and future opportunities.

Work is underway at Mt Albert War Memorial Park with the first ANZAC garden area now complete.

Designed alongside our council partners, this space has been built with long term structure in mind using Camellia ‘Setsugekka’ in a cross formation and Callistemon ‘Little John’ in each corner. Over time it will be shaped into a defined memorial feature.

The remaining areas will be completed over the next 10 days and it is great to see the vision starting to come together.

Familiar jobs can catch you off guard. That’s when it matters most to stop, think, and reset.

Before you start , switch on.

It only takes a moment to protect yourself and the people around you.

Safety. Think About It.

At Programmed, giving back to our local communities is part of who we are.
This week, our team dropped off donated towels and blankets to the Council Henderson Animal Shelter. These were generously collected over the past two weeks by our office team and were warmly received by the shelter staff.

While this time of year often brings an influx of donations, the extra supplies will be kept for when things quieten down and are needed most.

A big thank you to everyone who contributed. Small actions can make a big difference.
