Hunting season is calling in Haast 🌿🦌

Key Hunting Information for Haast:
Roar Ballot Periods (2026): Period 1 (Mar 22–28), Period 2 (Mar 29–Apr 4), Period 3 (Apr 5–11), Period 4 (Apr 12–18).
Best Time: Mid-March to late April for the Red Stag roar.
Species: Red deer, Tahr (end of April), and Chamois.
Permits: A DOC open area permit is required for most hunting, while specific areas like Haast use a ballot system.
