HOW TO GET TO CAPE REINGA With your BIke

I would like to share some insights for riders on the Tour Aotearoa.

There are several options available for traveling from Auckland to Cape Reinga.

1. Fly directly to Kaitāia with Barrier Air.
Bicycles are permitted under specific conditions; please verify with Barrier Air.
You can cycle to town or arrange for a shuttle with me.

2. Fly directly to Kerikeri via Air New Zealand.

I can provide shuttle services from Kerikeri and Kaitāia to Cape Reinga or Kerikeri to Kaitāia. Please contact me for details.

3. Travel on InterCity bus service to Kerikeri and/or Kaitāia. Double decker dont take bikes from Auckland and the later busses miss the Kaitāia bus. Busses do NOT run to Kaitāia on Tuesday or Thursday.

I can provide shuttle services from Kerikeri and Kaitāia to Cape Reinga or Kerikeri to Kaitāia. Please contact me for details.

Good advice

Some sections of Te Araroa involve road walking - and your safety comes first.

Make sure to:
✅ Wear bright coloured clothing or hi-vis gear
✅ Stay visible at dawn, dusk, or in low-light conditions
✅ Stick to the side of the road

A little extra visibility goes a long way.
