Even the finest airline kitchen is limited by the galley — which is why Singapore Airlines lets premium cabin guests pre-order from a far wider menu before they fly. It's called Book the Cook, and on flights from Auckland to the UK and Europe it's open to Suites, First Class, Business Class and Premium Economy.

The dishes are created by Singapore Airlines' International Culinary Panel — celebrated chefs from across Asia, Europe and beyond, cooking to their own heritage. Signature favourites include Lobster Thermidor in First Class and Suites, grilled New Zealand Wakanui beef fillet, and roast Cantonese duck breast, with lighter and meatless options too. The one catch: from Auckland, selections must be made at least 48 hours before departure.
