We are pleased to announce that, this week, Astro Tekapo has been named a Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice 2026 Awards winner. This means that, according to traveller reviews and opinions, the Astro Experience ranks among the top 10% of activities in Aotearoa New Zealand.

In fact, we are the only experience provider in Lake Tekapo to get the award this year. Does this now make the Astro Experience the most loved activity in the area? Our guests certainly thought so. A big thank you to all our visitors and fantastic reviewers!

When we started this small operation, our ambition was to offer the best possible stargazing experience. The best guest experience in terms of quality, group size and budget friendliness. This recognition shows that maybe we’re on the right track.

🚦🏮 For night vision, red light is much friendlier than white or blue! On top of the starlight, all guests on the Astro Experience can use our red-light torches. To see where you walk, and to find your way around the telescopes.

Last night's view of the Magellanic Clouds - two neighbouring galaxies - and the Southern Lights. Will we make a third night in a row of watching the Aurora Australis? Only she knows for sure!

What we do know, though, is that outstanding sky conditions are forecasted for stargazing tonight, Monday 23 March. Some spots available still on the 10:45pm and 12:45am slots! ✨😀😎
