There is something rewarding about making beautifully coloured beads that are never quite the same as the bead you have made in the past. Shirlee Wilton

From individual glass rods I can create wonderful coloured and patterned beads. My focus of beading has changed and I now donate my beads to the Child Cancer Foundation (Wellington and Christchurch) as part of their "beads of Challenge" programme. My children are my inspiration and with my youngest (15) going through cancer and seeing how much the beads of challenge programme is important to kids

fighting cancer now want to give back. I am going to try to create "kid focused" beads so they have something special that they chose as they go through their incredible cancer journeys. I will also give free lessons to families of the children so they can make their own bead for their child. I am located in Masterton if interested.

Weather has started to turn, time to make All Black Minions for CCF. Have mad 15 all numbered.

In the kiln they go. Beads for CCF, Bingos take a while to make so don’t do them very often, bluey is faster to make because i dont mix colours of goass. But ivalways make the same number of each.
As winter is a few months away I’d better make more All Black Minions. Usually make a team before i send so in the conning weeks will start to do a few a week 😊

Something a little different. I’ve recently sold my beloved home, it was a tough decision but the right one. The shed, like the house was over 100 years old and we replaced the door a few years ago. I kept the key and decided to make something special for myself to remember my home. Not sure about the colours or design but I can always break it and do it again :)

Winter is definitely here and finding it difficult to get myself into the shed. Thankfully Deborah Woolford has sent in a sunning batch of beads for CCF. I love her aliens and penguins they are wonderful. Thanks Deborah. Will send these off to CCF in the next couple of weeks.

Finally was able to send some beads off to CCF last week. A beautiful selection of character beads from Deborah Woolford and a group from me, mine were a majority of the murini flowers I’d been practicing, the hardest thing was how to put them in a bead. Still haven’t cracked the technique so a lot more beads to follow for CCF as I keep practicing. Made some character ones as well.

Been playing and getting there. There are a number of beads for CCF as well…. Elena Hamburg’s tutorials are great and slowly getting better. They do take hours to do though so not something you can do quickly. Have an idea to make hydrangeas so will see if I can use the same technique to create those and daffodils :)
