With my racing writer hat on I arrived in London and headed to Day One at Royal Ascot. With a media pass and a spot in the Media Marquee in the centre of the course my long held dream came true. Actually, the reality was better than the dream - it was an incredible day up close to the action, experiencing the glories of Ascot from a privileged place. A surreal pinch-me day that I’ll remember firever. I’ll be writing about for the NZTROF Owners Bulletin Winter edition.

As Personal Travel Companion to Abbee, we set off from Auckland on 5 Feb for her 30th birthday trip of a lifetime. The long flight went smoothly in the comfort of Emirates Premium Economy. After 3 days exploring London (my fave city and second home), alas in miserable weather, we hopped on the Eurostar and are now in Amsterdam where it is mighty chilly. Seeing Big Ben, a flight on the London Eye, a visit to Mme Tussaud’s, the Harry Potter store and Hamley’s were London highlights. A tour of Anne Frank’s house was a lifelong bucket list item for Abbee, now complete. With its poignant and sobering familiar story, Abbee coped with the house’s steep narrow stairs admirably. Snow flurries, canals, bikes and twinkling lights make for a lovely setting in this city of tall thin houses and people.
I’ve loved showing Abbee two special cities she may never have got to see if not for BEYOND and our Travel Companion Service. We love to help people who need support to see the world if their dreams! We make it happen!

In December I led a small and lovely group on a Christmas Markets cruise in Europe for Pukekohe Travel. Wintry vibes, charming towns, stunning buildings, hearty food and plenty of Christmas spirit and gorgeous treasures to be found. The Xmas markets in Europe are truly a sight to behold and a magical experience in every way. Prague and Vienna always stunning; cruising the Danube a great way to travel. If you get the chance to sample Xmas markets in Europe - take it.
