s most people do, and yes life is short and the world is large so we should make the time to tick these places off our lists sooner rather than later. I love my job and I liken it to working in a candy store. Every day I get excited about where people want to go and I love creating that dream for them so that it can become a reality. Sorry I am a little behind in the posts as we have been very busy!

This is our 2 nights in Dawson City! This city is where Gold in the Yukon was first discovered. The history and stories of this town are so interesting, along with the current mining which still happens today.

You would have seen the post with us having the shot with a human toe….not sure what we were thinking but I guess when in Dawson you have to do it!

Dawson City is a lovely little old gold mining town with so much gold mining history. Colourful buildings, it’s also where the Klondic and the Yukon Rivers meet. Anyone who is into history or Gold will love this city. Great place for hikes and the people are so lovely and friendly.

I jumped a day!! Before getting to Dawson we coached to Fairbanks 3 hours including a half hour break along the way.

When we arrived in Fairbanks we went straight to our River Cruise including lunch. This was a great afternoon. Very well organised and a must do in Fairbanks.

We stayed at the Princess lodge in Fairbanks and then had an early flight out to Dawson City.

Denali Tundra Tour…..
We were up early as on coach 3 so 4.30am wake up….for 5.10am departure. Anyone who knows me I am not a morning person unless it’s for a flight or wildlife so I was ok with it. I am going to be honest….it wasn’t what I expected….I had it in my head that there would be Moose 🫎 and bears 🐻 and elks all the other wildlife roaming around like on safari in Africa.

I have since learnt that it’s more like playing a game of hide and seek - with the wildlife hiding and is having to find them. But we did get lucky with getting to see a Grizzly Bear, Moose, Elk, Dahl Sheep, 🐑 some squirrels 🐿️ of course and birds. Along with the beautiful scenery.

We were incredibly lucky to have Mount Denali out in full view which aparently only 30% of people get to see.

Afternoon was taking in some hikes, getting stuck watching bears on a live TV. look up explore.org national park service and the bears are at Kenai National Park. I need to go here!!

Another day of beautiful scenery. Early start aboard the McKinley Explorer for our 9hour trip from Anchorage to Denali. Time went surprisingly fast, went down stairs for lunch, also spent time on the viewing platforms. Full commentary onboard with lots of laughter and learning lots of new information along the way.

Once we arrived in Denali we were transferred to the Holland America Lodge for our next 2 nights. We decided to go on a ATV wilderness tour which was a lot of fun.

As we all know mother nature and how she can throw spanner’s into our holiday plans and we have to make adjustments on the spot. We were picked up this morning at 7.45 am to go for our Heli Dogsledding tour. The closer we got, the lower the cloud became. So it wasn’t surprising that our flight was cancelled. We then had to make decisions book on a later flight and hang out in Gridwood for 5 hours to take the hour shuttle back to the airport. As this trip was on my Bucket List we took the risk and stayed. Best decision we made. We hang out at Alyeska ski resort for coffee and the hired EBikes and went exploring the beautiful town and surrounding area. Had a lovely Lunch at Gridwood Brewery then the shuttle collected us and we managed to get on the flight and all I can say is what incredible experience we had. Photos don’t really show how awesome this was and yes it was expensive, no I didn’t get it cheaper than anyone else!! Yes it was worth every penny!!!

Today was amazing…..very long but totally worth it. 6.45am bus to Seward…just over 2 hours nice and scenic. Then we did our Kenaii Fjords cruise for 6 hours! It was amazing and we got to tick most of the wildlife off our list! Otters 🦦, puffins, Bald Eagles 🦅, humpback whales 🐋, Glaciers, so much bird life, seals,🦭 and sea lions. Then we took the Alaskan Railway 🚃 back to Anchorage (4 hours) but great scenery seeing Moose 🫎 and Bald Eagles and I just missed out on seeing the little Black Bear 🐻! Highly recommended this tour if you are got getting to Seward by a cruise ship.
