Bigatures is a term coined by Weta Workshop for their unusually large miniatures - some as tall as a two story building. Minas Terith was filmed with motion control cameras to simulate sweeping aerial shots. These models allowed Peter Jackson to film with real light and shadows, giving a physical realism to scenes that full CGI couldn’t yet replicate.
