After the cyclone a few years ago, we’ve been busy replenishing the land, adding even more plantings to bring fresh life back to the vines.
From the deck at Kiwiesque, you’ll overlook our block of Cab Sav, Pinot Gris and Albariño vines.
The Albariño, a white variety from Galicia in Spain, thrives here in our coastal climate - perfect alongside Hawke’s Bay’s incredible seafood.
Our reds have their own story too. The 2007 vintage was a standout year, producing our flagship ‘Farting Kiwi’ Cabernet Sauvignon. We replanted in 2016, and today we’re enjoying the 2021 vintage, a favourite with BBQ Kiwiesque lamb.
Sustainably grown, our vines get a little help from our sheep, who graze for eight months of the year to open the grapes to the sun and keep sprays to a minimum. It’s all part of the cycle that keeps our vineyard, and our wine, at its best.
