One of the more important residents of the gardens around The Barn - this one provides part of your daily breakfast basket. Most of our guests so far, have never tasted better eggs than ones like Sporty Spice here and her sisters provide - free range and organic!

A project I have been working on for a while and Dallas has been asking me to do for much longer. - now finished. It is about 30 sq metres in area, 800mm off ground level - a raised garden so Dallas can grow flowers for ikebana and to attract bees and butterflies. Cost about $1,000 in materials -timber and screws/nails. The plan is to fill it with w**ds and compost, cover it with black polythene through winter to prevent w**d regrowth, and then plant flower seedlings in Spring. Next time our flowers won't be swept away by floods.

It is time for that Autumn getaway. The weather is beautiful and we have reduced our prices for the season. Our standards of service, however, remain the same. And the feijoas are just starting now.

Here's some good news. We realise that many people are struggling with high prices so we are currently organising to lower the base rental of The Barn - Waihi Holiday Home. It will still be managed by Bachcare and they will still use their algorithms to change the pricing upwards when there is peak demand and downwards when it is less busy but with a much lower price set by us, it should be affordable for everyone. We won't lower our standards of care. You will still receive a full and fantastic breakfast basket and all the other little tempters we have put in place.

Our B & B in Waihi is now fully operational. It sleeps 4 adults and rural in nature but within easy walking (or cycling) distance to town. The best of both worlds!
