Just me and my first mate Nala out on the lake this afternoon, and honestly, I think she had the best time of anyone.
Glassy, mirror-flat conditions from the moment we left the ramp. Not another boat in sight as far as I could see in any direction — just us, the rods, and Lake Wanaka doing what it does best. The kind of afternoon where the water looks fake, like someone laid a sheet of glass across the mountains and forgot to ripple it.
We trolled until the sun dropped behind the mountains, put a few fish in the net, and called it a perfect autumn evening. Nala had her paws up on the rail the whole time, nose working overtime, completely convinced she was the one doing the hard work. Fair enough — she kept morale high.
