Behold the enchanting hues of NGC 7380/SH2 142, known as the Wizard Nebula, gracefully revealed in a celestial ballet of color. Captured through the lens of a Celestron 11” Edge HD at F/7, this cosmic masterpiece unfolds with meticulous detail. The cosmic symphony was orchestrated using a Celestron OAG, CEM 70, and a 2600mm Pro cooled to -10, guided by the precision of ASIAIR Pro, 7x36mm EFW, EAF, and the artistry of Chroma 3nm filters, including SHO filters. A mesmerizing dance of 5-minute subs, totaling an astounding 30 hours, was flawlessly executed, harmonizing in the depths of a Bortle 8 sky from the sanctum of a backyard. Expertly processed through Pixinsight, Photoshop, and Lightroom, this celestial portrait is a testament to the magical allure of the cosmos.
The Wizard Nebula, officially designated NGC 7380 and Sh2-142, is a captivating emission nebula residing in the constellation Cepheus, located approximately 7,200 light-years away. Its name originates from the distinct visual resemblance of its interplay between dark dust lanes and luminous regions, forming a celestial figure akin to a wizard. Spanning around 100 light-years across, this ethereal masterpiece is centered around the Open Cluster NGC 7380, a group of young, hot stars that illuminate the surrounding hydrogen gas, producing the characteristic reddish glow associated with emission nebulae.
