I no longer travel just for the sake of traveling.
People often tell me, “Buti ka pa, travel-travel lang,” as if it’s all carefree adventure. But over the years, my perspective on travel has shifted. What once started as a break from routine has become a series of moments that changed how I see life.
In the beginning, it was about escaping, seeing new places, forgetting the noise of everyday life. But over time, something shifted. I no longer just plan well, I plan with intention. I no longer travel just to get away, I travel to connect, to learn, and to live more fully.
Sometimes, while walking alone in a foreign street, I find myself thinking, “Buti pa siya…”comparing my journey to someone else’s, wondering about the things they have that I seem to lack.
But travel taught me gratitude.Because if I constantly compare my story to someone else’s, I’ll miss what’s right in front of me, the warmth of a morning coffee, a quiet sunrise, a simple conversation. I’ll miss the beauty of now.
Through every trip, I’m learning to slow down, to appreciate the ordinary, and to live in the present, a lesson that doesn’t come easy for me.
