Claveria, Cagayan | As part of the 160th Founding Anniversary of Claveria and the 8th Tawid Festival, the Department of Trade and Industry R2 Cagayan, led by Acting Provincial Director Lourdito B. Antonio, joined as one of the board of judges for the 2025 Abaca Product Innovation Contest held today, 09 March 2025.

With the participants showcasing a wide range of innovative products applying the skills they learned during a training organized by LGU Claveria and DTI R2 Cagayan in December 2024, the contest celebrated local creativity and innovation in using abaca, a fiber native to the municipality.

Along with PD Antonio who served as board of judges were EnP. Jennifer Junio-Baquiran (Provincial Tourism Officer) and Geo Patrick Buenavista (LGU Sta. Praxedes’ Tourism Operations Officer).

Also, highlights during the 8th Tawid Festival included the oath-taking of the officers and members of the Claveria Handicrafts Association and the Claveria Tour Guides Association, as well as the conduct of the 2025 Painting Competition.

Last Saturday's contest proper and pre-judging of Tawid Festival's Painting Competition 2025. Awarding of winners and participants will be on March 9, 2025 at 8 o'clock in the morning at the Claveria Municipal Gymnasium. Their wonderful artworks reflecting the theme "Tawid" will be displayed at the venue on the program proper! Indeed, Claveria is overflowing with talented and skilled young artists. So watch out and see you there! 💚💛🩵

Unleash your creativity and weave your way to the top as we invite you to join the TAWID FESTIVAL'S ABACA PRODUCT INNOVATION CONTEST!

For this year’s celebration of Claveria’s 160th Founding Anniversary dubbed as “8th Tawid Festival”, we curated an arts and crafts competition perfectly made for you to bring out your artistry and weaving skills.

Guidelines:
• Participants: Open to all bonafide residents of Claveria
• The main material to be used must be the abaca fiber.
• Each contestant is allowed to submit a maximum of two entries only.
• Each participant will be given three (3) days to weave or make their own product. It would be on-the-spot product-making competition, meaning to say, unfinished products must be left at the contest venue for continuation and completion within the given period of time. Must strictly be made individually by them.
• Abaca fibers will be provided by the Municipal Tourism Office
• All submitted entries will be owned by the Municipal Tourism Office while weavers retain all intellectual properties.

All participants will be invited during the Claveria Day on March 9 and all entries will be displayed at the Municipal Gymnasium.
