Macau and Hong Kong are two of the most-sought after travel destinations in Asia particularly with Filipinos. The two countries aside from they are very near to each other, their attractions, food and culture are something to look forward without even spending that much money unlike with other countries. We had the opportunity to celebrate Christmas in 2019 and travel with these two countries before the pandemic. Also, it is during this time that protests in Hong Kong is happening. This was my last travel before Covid and my brother’s first out of the country. Below is a useful travel guide, 𝘪𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘯𝘊𝘊𝘥 𝘢 𝘥𝘊𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘊𝘥 𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘊𝘳𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘊𝘹𝘱𝘊𝘯𝘎𝘊𝘎 𝘱𝘭𝘊𝘢𝘎𝘊 𝘮𝘊𝘎𝘎𝘢𝘚𝘊 𝘮𝘊.

✈ 𝗙𝗟𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧 (P2, 758.11)
Clark to Macau, Hong Kong to Clark via Cebu Pacific (5J 370/5J 149). Booked our ticket during CebPac Piso Anniversary Sale 6 months before the trip with 66 pesos base fare. Our original flight is December 2-6, 2019 however CebPac changed its flight time which gives us the opportunity to rebook our flight on dates that we want.

🏚 𝗔𝗖𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗠𝗢𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 (P2, 352.04)
𝘔𝘢𝘀𝘢𝘶 (December 23)
We stayed at 𝗛𝗌𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗛𝗌𝘁𝗲𝗹 located in Estrada do Repouso, No. 35-38, Macau City in a Twin Room for P2,380.03. The place is few minutes walk to St. Paul Ruins, Senado Square and other attractions and easy to find from bus stop from Macau International Airport. There is a 7/11 beside it, McDonalds a few walk and food establishments. The room is spacious, staff are hospitable and welcoming. All in all rate is 10/10, we did not encounter any problem at the hotel.

𝘏𝘰𝘯𝘚 𝘒𝘰𝘯𝘚 (December 24-26)
For Hong Kong, we spent our 3 nights at 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝘂𝗺 𝗚𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗛𝗌𝘂𝘀 located at Mirador Mansion in 58 Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui in a Deluxe Twin Bedroom for P2,324.07 for 3 nights. The place is within the central district of Hong Kong near to everything however the room is too small. If you have a lot of baggages and things they won’t fit in the room, comfort room is small too but what I like about this is there is a portable water for free, microwave and electric kettle free of used. Staff is also welcoming and hospitable.

We mostly used 𝗯𝘂𝘀 in Macau and 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 in Hong Kong. We utilized the 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝘀 in Macau, I think we only spent like around 50 hkd in the city for bus from airport to hotel, hotel to HZMB. We use 𝗯𝘂𝘀 from Macau to Hong Kong for 65khd instead of ferry. We bought Octopus card and loaded 150hkd for each, we didn’t even spent everything. Train system in Hong Kong is very easy to understand, you may opt to ride taxi also they are available.

🍜 𝗙𝗢𝗢𝗗 (P4, 500)
We mostly spent our money on fast food chains particularly in 𝗝𝗌𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗯𝗲𝗲 and 𝗠𝗰𝗗𝗌𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗱𝘀, also 7/11 meals. These are very cheap choices, we haven’t had the chance to try our local cuisine. But there are a lot of local restaurants that offers good food. Our budget is mostly 50hkd only per meal. We also brought with us biscuits and cup noodles.

📌 𝗧𝗜𝗣𝗊/𝗜𝗡𝗊𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧𝗊

▪Walking from places to nearby places can save your budget
▪Bring food such as canned goods, cup noodles and even biscuit if you’re on a budget

▪Buy your pasalubong at Best Mart for chocolates, they are everywhere.

Famous for its Chocolate Hills, Bohol offers a mix of island and city life with its various attractions. From the smallest creature Tarsier to the cultural heritage churches to the beaches and adventures at Danao it offers a lot to tourist. I visited the province last year, below is a travel guide.

✈ 𝗙𝗟𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧 (P1, 498)
CRK-TAG-CRK via Cebu Pacific (5J 613/5J 614). Booked my ticket almost 2 months between the trip with 99 pesos’ base fare.

🏢 𝗔𝗖𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗠𝗢𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 (P2, 083)
I stayed at 𝗠𝗌𝗌𝗻 𝗙𝗌𝗌𝗹𝘀 𝗛𝗌𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗹 located at Hontanosas Road cor. Ester A., Lim Drive, Tawala, Panglao in a 𝗕𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 8 𝗳𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗯𝗌𝘅 room with free breakfast.

This is my first time to try a hostel in the Philippines and it did not disappoint me. It was so clean even the comfort room; shoes/slippers are not allowed inside which makes it more beneficial for guest. There is an available large lounge area to interact with other guest and free cocktails at 6pm. It was in a 2nd floor of a building that also has convenience store, star bar and Korean restaurant. Shaka is in next building and a few minutes’ walk to Alona Beach.

Imagine for a 𝗣649 per night with free breakfast, it’s worth a penny.

🏊🏌‍♀𝗧𝗢𝗚𝗥𝗊 (P2, 100)
I joined a group tour at 𝗛𝗮𝗜𝗜𝘆 𝗜𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗌𝘂𝗿𝘀 for a 𝗖𝗌𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 Tour (P1,300) and 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗎𝗹𝗮𝗌 𝗜𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝗌𝗜𝗜𝗶𝗻𝗎 (P800) inclusive of the following:

• Driver and fuel
• Lunch buffet at Loboc River Cruise
• Shared boat
• Life vest, gear and mask

• Hotel pick up
• Environmental fee

🚎𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗊𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 (P600)
I only spent 600 pesos for transportation, this was the 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗲𝗿 from airport to hostel vice versa by moon fools hostel. All other transportation fees are covered on the package from the Happy Island Travel and Tours. But 𝗝𝗲𝗲𝗜𝗻𝗲𝘆, 𝗯𝘂𝘀, 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗌𝘁𝗌𝗿𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲 (habal-habal) are available in the province. You can rent a habal-habal for 200-300 pesos per day.

I suggest to have an agency if doing the countryside tour because attractions are far from each other.

🍜𝗙𝗢𝗢𝗗 (P1, 500)
I spent my money mostly on Lunch and Dinner since my breakfast is from my hostel. I ate mostly from restaurants, carinderia and stalls near my hostel. I’ve tried crispy worms, bbq and Filipino foods. 𝗊𝗵𝗮𝗞𝗮 is available, you could try 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗺𝘃𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁, 𝗟𝗮 𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗮 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁, 𝗛𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗵𝗮𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗜𝗜𝗲 𝗣𝗶𝘇𝘇𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮.

📌 𝗧𝗜𝗣𝗊/𝗜𝗡𝗊𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧𝗊
▪Booked your countryside tour in an agency because it’s hard to do it DIY since locations are far from each other
▪Bohol public transportation as what I observed is not that efficient
▪Bohol can be reached from Cebu via fast craft, if visiting Cebu you can Bohol add to your itinerary
▪Bring food during island hopping because it’s expensive at Balicasag Island
▪Find hotel near Alona beach which is a few minutes from the airport

I spent my Christmas in 2017 at the beautiful country, Japan. Japan known for many for its cherry blossom, culture, cleanliness, people and food is one of the most visited place in Asia. Sharing with you my travel guide below:

We booked the ticket 10 days before the flight that is why it is expensive and considering it is a holiday (Christmas) season where ticket prices are really that high.

We stayed at 𝗊𝗵𝗶𝗻-𝗜𝗺𝗮𝗺𝗶𝘆𝗮 𝗛𝗌𝘁𝗲𝗹 located at 1-2-20, Haginochaya, Nishinari, Southern Osaka in a Capsule Room for P3, 739 for 3 nights. The place is a few minutes’ walk to the train station and convenience store are everywhere. It is also clean and has luggage storage at the front desk if leaving late considering the rate of P1, 246 per night.

For Tokyo, we stayed at 𝗊𝗮𝗞𝘂𝗿𝗮 𝗥𝘆𝗌𝗞𝗮𝗻 located at 2-62 Iriya Taito-ku, Tokyo in a Standard Twin Room for 4 nights for P7, 834. The place is quiet far from a train station and far from the city. It is more likely on the urban side of Tokyo, the staff doesn’t speak English and it is not covered by the Japan Rail Pass so I don’t recommend the place.

We bought a 𝗝𝗮𝗜𝗮𝗻 𝗥𝗮𝗶𝗹 (𝗝𝗥) 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘀 for 7 days for P13, 000 at Flytpack now Travel Recommends. We used the JR Pass throughout our stay in Japan except for going in and out of our accommodation in Tokyo. You can avail other pass depending on your itinerary. 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻 is the most convenient way of going to places, 𝘁𝗮𝘅𝗶 which is so expensive and 𝗯𝘂𝘀 are also available. 170 yen is the cheapest rate of train tickets.

🍜 𝗙𝗢𝗢𝗗 (P15, 000)
Food is quiet expensive in Japan but there are 𝗰𝗌𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗌𝗿𝗲𝘀 everywhere if you’re on a budget such as Lawson, 7/11 and Family Mart. 𝗩𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗌 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲 are also everywhere. You could try Japan’s famous food such as Ramen, Sushi, Onigiri Rice, Takoyaki, Sashimi, Kobe beef, etc. The food tastes delicious and authentic. Genki Sushi, Ichiran and Ippudo are also available in the various prefecture of the country.

Home of the Mount Apo, Kadayawan Festival, durian and the gateway to Mindanao, Davao has a lot to offer to the tourist. I am kinda hesitant to push through my trip back in 2018 because of the martial law and my safety and security since I will be traveling alone but since everything is settled and read the news that it is safe, I push through my Davao trip. True enough, I haven't feel unsecured with Davao but only felt anxious of the presence of the police and military at ports sites. Nevertheless it was one of my unforgettable trips. Below is a detailed travel guide.

✈ 𝗙𝗟𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧 (𝗣653)
CRK-DVO-CRK via Philippine Airlines (PR831/PR832) with 7kg hand carry baggage. I booked my flight at 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙀𝙠𝙖 𝙖𝙥𝙥. Booked my flight 4 months before the trip.

Funny story, I was just looking for a flight of places I haven’t to then Davao came to my mind, I did check flights at airlines website but prices are too high so I tried the Traveloka app and started searching at my birthday month June but prices are still high and I just scroll and scroll until I reach July 22-25 with 𝙋653 𝙀𝙣𝙡𝙮 𝙛𝙀𝙧 𝙩𝙬𝙀 -𝙬𝙖𝙮 𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙠𝙚𝙩 𝙫𝙞𝙖 𝙋𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝘌𝙞𝙧𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙚. I stayed at 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙎𝙪𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘿𝙀𝙧𝙢𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙡 in a Queen bed with free wifi and 𝙗𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙠𝙛𝙖𝙚𝙩 for 3 nights. It is located at #4 Road 2 Dona VIcenta, Bajada, Davao City. I recommend this place because of the accessibility, cleanliness, the staff and the price, spent only 𝙋871 𝙥𝙚𝙧 𝙣𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩. It is near Victoria Plaza Mall, near restaurants and fast food chains and 3-minute walk to the main road where public transportation passes by.
