Discover a Hidden Gem in Eastern Visayas!

Capul Island is a historical and cultural treasure in Northern Samar, Philippines. Famous for its beautiful beaches that can rival Boracay, its Spanish-era lighthouse, old church, and the unique Capul language (Inabaknon), it's a must-visit for adventurers and history buffs alike. Here's how you can get there:

🛫 Step 1:
There are two main ways:

✈️ By Air:
Take a direct flight from Manila to Catarman or Calbayog Airport.
Flights usually take about 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Cebu Pacific and PAL Express occasionally offer routes (check current schedules).

🚌 By Land + Sea (from Manila or other cities):
Ride a bus bound for Matnog, Allen or Catarman, Northern Samar .
Travel time: Around 14–16 hours.

Buses pass through Matnog (Sorsogon) and cross via ferry to Allen.

🚐 Step 2: Travel to Allen Port
If you flew into Catarman or Calbayog, take a van or jeepney to Allen Port (around 1.5–2 hours).

⛴️ Step 3: Take a Boat to Capul Island
From MATNOG Port:
Passenger boats to Capul depart @ 10:AM and 11:30 AM.
Travel time: Around 1.5 to 2 hours.
Fare: ₱150.

From ALLEN Port (LOOC and DAPDAP port):
Passenger boats to Capul usually depart around 11:30 AM.
Travel time: Around 1.5 to 2 hours.
Fare: ₱150.

📌 Important Tips:

Passenger boats leave only ONCE A DAY.

Bring cash — there ATMs and stores accepting GCash/online payments on Capul Island but having available cash is highly advised.

🏝️ What to Expect on Capul Island:

🕯️ FARO de CAPUL – Built in the 1800s, it offers a scenic view of San Bernardino Strait.
⛪ FUERZA de CAPUL – A centuries-old fortress church built by the Jesuits.
🏖️ Pinangandao and Abak Beach – Great for swimming and relaxing.
🗣️ Inabaknon Language – A unique language unrelated to the local Waray dialect.

🧳 Pack essentials, bring travel bottles, and prepare for a bit off-the-grid experience worth the journey!

Planning to visit Capul?

Here's how to get here

From Matnog, Sorsogon:

There is a 10:00AM departure and another departs @11:30AM departure, 1-hour trip, (fare ~₱150).

Alternatively, take the ferry from Matnog to Allen, then transfer to a boat from Allen to Capul.

From Allen Port:

Looc Port in Allen to Capul around noon (1-hour trip, fare ~₱150).

There are also boats from Dapdap Port in Allen.
