📅 June 12 – Independence Day and 📅 June 17 (tentative) – Eid ul-Adha (subject to official announcement)

A day to remember the declaration of Philippine independence in 1898—a perfect time to visit historical landmarks, museums, and heritage towns, and one of the two major Islamic holidays observed worldwide.

Eid ul-Adha honors the story of Ibrahim and Ismail. It’s a time for reflection, faith, and family gatherings—especially in Mindanao and Muslim-majority towns.

Take this opportunity to plan a meaningful trip—whether to explore history or join in cultural observances.

This International Museum Day, we celebrate spaces that preserve our stories and shape how we see the world.

At Casa Gorordo Museum in Cebu, we mapped a 19th-century home that stood witness to generations of change—faith, family, and Filipino identity. At Museo ng Makati, we explored a hub of culture in the heart of the city, where local heritage and art come together.

Both museums are now accessible virtually, ensuring that learning, appreciation, and cultural connection go beyond their walls.

Lapu-Lapu was where we launched Virtual Maps to the public for the very first time.

To prepare, our team spent over two weeks on the ground, covering both Mactan and Olango Islands. We mapped coastal roads, resorts, dive spots, and heritage sites—building a virtual experience that captured not just the sights, but the spirit of the islands.

This project marked the start of something big: sharing local destinations through immersive, accessible digital maps built together with our LGU partners.

After mapping our home island of Cebu, Panglao was our first official Virtual Maps project—and our first paid one too.

Over the course of one week, we captured nearly 300 resorts and tourist attractions across the island, followed by another week of development to bring every detail to life.

From white-sand beaches to diving spots and hidden paths, we built a virtual experience of Panglao that showcases just how much the island has to offer.

Today, we honor the courage of those who stood their ground for our country.

At Virtual Maps, we believe that remembering history is just as important as exploring landscapes. Through our work, we’ve walked through heritage sites, old battlefields, and local landmarks that quietly carry stories of bravery and resistance.

As we continue to map the Philippines, we carry these stories with us—preserving them not just in memory, but in every place we make accessible virtually.

Let’s honor our heroes by continuing to learn from the places they fought to protect.

Step into the Museo ng Makati, a repository of the city’s rich heritage, historical artifacts, and vibrant culture. Housed in a historic structure along J.P. Rizal Avenue in Poblacion, this museum offers a glimpse into Makati’s evolution from its early days to its present urban landscape.

In a pioneering move to make art more accessible, the Museo ng Makati has embraced the “Paint to Pixel” initiative, transforming traditional artworks into digital formats. This project not only preserves the original pieces but also allows a broader audience to experience Makati’s artistic heritage through virtual platforms. By digitizing their collections, the museum ensures that art enthusiasts worldwide can explore and appreciate the city’s cultural treasures from anywhere.

Through Virtual Maps, you can now embark on a virtual tour of the Museo ng Makati, exploring its exhibits and understanding the stories behind each artifact. This fusion of art and technology exemplifies how cultural institutions can innovate to reach wider audiences.

Pampanga – A Festive and Flavorful Heritage 🎄🍽️

Pampanga is a province of rich traditions, mouthwatering flavors, and grand holiday celebrations! 🎆 Known as the Culinary Capital of the Philippines, it’s the birthplace of the famous Sisig, a sizzling dish loved nationwide.

Step into history at Casa Gorordo Museum, a beautifully preserved 19th-century home that tells the story of Cebu’s past. But beyond its antique charm, it also made history by pioneering the use of virtual space for museums in the Philippines during the pandemic! 🖥️🏠

As one of the first museums to go digital, Casa Gorordo allowed visitors to explore its rich heritage online, ensuring culture remained accessible even when doors were closed.

Now, you can experience its legacy both in person and virtually—blending tradition with technology.
