✅ Is it true that Filipinos can enter Canada visa-free?

Partially — but only for some people and not universally as “visa-free for all” like the image says.

✔️ Canada has expanded its Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) program to include the Philippines.
✔️ This means certain Filipino passport holders can now travel to Canada without applying for a traditional visa and instead use an eTA, which is cheaper and simpler (about CAD 7).

❗ Who can’t enter visa-free?

❌ Not all Filipino passport holders are automatically visa-free.
To use the eTA (visa-free air travel), you must meet specific eligibility conditions such as:

You held a Canadian visa in the last 10 years
OR

You currently have a valid U.S. non-immigrant visa
Filipinos who don’t meet either of these still need a regular visitor visa to enter Canada.

❗ Important details

👉 The eTA only applies to air travel — if you enter by land or sea, you still need a visa.
👉 It’s not a full “visa-free” right like other countries enjoy — it’s an electronic travel authorization program that replaces the visa for eligible travelers.

YES: Canada has made it easier for some Filipinos to enter without a visa by using an eTA.
