“Davao Life is Here”, It’s the city’s tag line. Before the City called “Davao”, it was name Nueva Vergara during Spanish colonization here in the Philippines.

The Spanish conqueror, Don Jose Oyanguren named the Davao as “Nueva Vergara” after its home town in Vergara, Spain. After several times of trying to pe*****te Davao, he finally succeeded after three months and defeated then the Dutu of Davao, Datu Mama Bago.

On June 29, 1848, Don Jose Oyanguren ruled the city and started to establish the first Davao settlement. Also, this day was the feast of St. Peter and Oyanguren dedicated the city to him that’s why we have now St. Peter as the patron saint of Davao.

Currently, Davao has developed into a big city with a fast growing economy and rich diverse culture living in peace and unity even in diversity. Truly, Life is Here!

Photos are captured at Davao’s Botanical Garden. It’s a beautiful public park developed by the City Government of Davao located within reach of Marfori Heights Subdivision. This is a one-hectare property with well-manicured lawns, various plant species, trees and a children's playground.

When you hear the country Canada, what destination comes in your mind first? Aside from witnessing the gorgeous Aurora Borealis, what comes next is the Niagara Falls.

This magnificent waterfalls is not the largest in the world but definitely one of the most beautiful and the most visited attractions in the world. It’s also famous for being a valuable source of hydroelectric power. A number of hydroelectric plants have generated electricity in two places, the province of Ontario and the state of New York since 1882. This attraction has a group of three waterfalls the southern part of Niagara Gorge, traversing the border between Ontario in Canada and in New York, United States. The largest and famous among three is called Canadian Horseshoe Falls, which lies the international border of the two countries. It is about 57 meters tall and 670 meters wide. Water gushes its peak speed at 109 km/h. During its peak, more than 6 million cubic feet of water gushes over the crest of the falls every minute. Canadian Horseshoe Falls is the most powerful waterfall in North America, as measured by flow rate.

Looking back a little of its history, Niagara Falls was formed when glaciers receded at the end of the Wisconsin glaciation, the last ice age and water from the newly formed Great Lakes carved a path through the Niagara Escarpment en route to the Atlantic Ocean.

It’s good that tourists can fully enjoy the beauty of Niagara Waterfalls as they opened the Niagara Falls State Park for vacationers. It features amazing views of some attractions, different exhibits, relaxing hiking experience and mouthwatering choices of food in a family-friendly environment. It’s truly an ultimate adventure-packed that you must experience once in your life.

Activities include river tours, guided tours, special events are also held in this place such as food and other festivals, concerts and other family-friendly activities. Tourists can also experience the Cave of the winds and get closer to the Falls descending 175 feet into the Niagara Gorge and experience the current of the Falls from the Hurricane Deck. Imagine how cool is that!

Aside from these, tourists can also drop by at the Discovery Center to learn the rich history and facts about the Falls or opt to take a hike into the Niagara Gorge or explore the ruins of the Schoellkopf Power Plant. After all these activities, reward yourself and dine in at The Top of the Falls Restaurant serving an American-fare lunch and dinners with the panoramic view of the Falls and if you’re lucky enough, you’d get to witness the Niagara Falls illumination where an array of bright colors are lighting.

Chasing Skies will be honored to bring you to this wonderful God-made attraction soon!
