DID YOU KNOW!

In pickleball, the answer depends entirely on which center line the ball hits.

1. The Service Center Line (Legal)
If the ball hits the center line that divides the left and right service courts, it is considered "in" and is a legal serve. In pickleball, all lines are considered part of the court area they surround, except for one notable exception.

2. The Non-Volley Zone (Kitchen) Center Line (Illegal)
The short line that extends from the net to the non-volley zone line (the Kitchen line) is part of the Kitchen boundary.

If the serve lands on the center line segment inside the Kitchen, it is a fault.

The serve must completely clear the non-volley zone and the non-volley zone lines to be considered legal.
