"Travel Writing Through Ages"
My perspective on travel writing has evolved over the years, as have the general public's travel habits. Travel used to be an expensive and cherished activity. Trips were few and far between, and not everyone had access to them. Now that travel is so easy and inexpensive, the majority of us are traveling across the world in some capacity every year, and we're chronicling our adventures as well. Because of the advent of photo sharing and blogging, any traveler can instantly share their experiences with their audiences back home. The world is continuously changing, as are the ways we travel and the travel writers. look back at travel writing in the 19th century, and it’s more about the destinations and people’s experiences in undiscovered lands. Nowadays, nearly everyone can travel. There are so many budget airlines and it’s easier to get a passport. If a travel writer wants to insist on being the first person to visit a place, they won’t survive. Nowhere is untouched.
Connecting with your audience has grown more important in travel writing. Readers aren't looking for information on a location because they can obtain that for free on the Internet. They want to buy your book to see what's going on behind the scenes. The importance of the point of connection is growing, and travel writing is becoming increasingly personal. Memoirs, particularly travel memoirs, remain at the center of the contemporary nonfiction boom. Think of Eat, Pray, Love and the subsequent travel memoirs to show how our perception of travel has evolved from seeing sites and seeing the world to the life-changing experiences that our journeys bring us, and who we become on the other side.
