The novel and the movie mentioned were about folding 1,000 paper origami cranes, in the hopes of getting their wishes granted. 2 years ago, I was able to fold about 271 cranes and made them into a curtain, which I gifted to a friend. Folding origami, along with my other hobbies, helped me stay awake and productive at most times. I forgot why I stopped at 271 cranes. Maybe work got busier, I got bu
sier. I wanted to continue and reach a thousand. Recently, I came across a blog where a woman made 1,000 paper cranes and attached a quote onto each of them, handed them to strangers herself. This has made a lot of people smile and the woman happy. In New York, I met another believer on Facebook. Her goal was to make a thousand cranes, and placed a positive word on each crane, left them wherever she went - coffee shops, libraries, museums...everywhere. There are a few others, all with the same goal - to spread positivity around. My mission is no different from theirs. Ever wonder how a coin you find on the street makes you smile, or a note you find on a page of a book you borrowed from the library? I am all about the little things in life. That coin is considered lucky to some, that note sometimes end up in our wallets, forever cherished. For what that small thing gave us the day we found it is a treasure in itself. As I complete my own mission of 81 provinces, I will bring along some paper cranes I folded myself, and leave one or two in every place I go. This page is for the cranes that will travel with me, and for the people who might chance upon them. If you find a crane, please share how you got it, where you found it, and if it inspired you, leave it for someone else to find and be inspired too. I wanna know how far cranes can travel as much as the people who carries them could. I hope the cranes make you smile as much as folding them did to me.
