Running On Low Batt?
By Maloi Malibiran-Salumbides
You don't have to wait for yourself to run on empty bago mo alagaan ang iyong sarili. Are you running on low batt? Today's daily dose of inspiration is for you.
Why did he not run on low batt like what most of us are probably feeling after going through a pandemic for more than a year now?
There are 5 things that I observed about Jesus' self-care regimen.
1) He prayed regularly. Sa Mark 1:35 ganito ang ating mababasa, "Before daybreak the next morning, Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray." Jesus spent time in prayer regularly. Makikita natin ito, all throughout his ministry. His daily communication with his Heavenly Father recharged him for his daily mission. Bago ka sumabak sa maraming gawain, bago ka maoverwhelm sa mga trabaho na iyong haharapin, spend time with God to be recharged and strengthened. Make it your daily habit to pray.
2) He practiced solitude. In Matthew 14:13 we read that, “When Jesus heard [that John the Baptist had been beheaded], he withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place.” Jesus practiced solitude. He knew when to withdraw from the multitude.
3) He knew how to rest. This is what we read in Matthew 8, "Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping." Ayaw mong maburn-out, magpahinga ka.
4) He expressed his emotions. Read the Gospels and you will find out how that that is not the case. Jesus expressed different emotions. When his friend died, "Jesus wept" (John 11:35). In Matthew 21:12, we read "And Jesus entered the temple and drove out all who sold and bought in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons." If you don't want to be drained, find healthy ways to express your emotions.
5) He had a support group. Jesus had his 12 disciples. At mula sa labing dalawa, meron pa siyang inner circle, sina Peter, James at John. This was Jesus' closest relationships when he was here on earth. Ipinapakita nito na ang design talaga sa atin ng Diyos ay lumago at magthrive in the context of community. We need to be connected to God and to one another so that we won't run on empty.
Self-care is a term that we often hear nowadays.
