Cotabato City โ€“ In line with its commitment to promoting safe, resilient, and sustainable tourism destinations, the Ministry of Trade, Investments and Tourism (MTIT) โ€“ Bureau of Tourism, Maguindanao Provincial Office successfully conducted the Training on Crisis Readiness, Risk Mitigation, and Basic Life Rescue on July 22, 2026, at D&M Catering Services, Cotabato City.

The one-day capacity-building activity gathered owners, managers, supervisors, and designated personnel from various Tourism-Related Enterprises (TREs) in Maguindanao del Norte and Maguindanao del Sur, equipping them with the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to effectively respond to emergencies, safeguard visitors, and strengthen the resilience of tourism establishments.

The training featured distinguished resource persons from the Philippine Red Cross โ€“ Maguindanao and Cotabato City Chapter and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO).

Representing the Philippine Red Cross โ€“ Maguindanao and Cotabato City Chapter, Misuari Kasan, EMT, and Belly Sorilla facilitated comprehensive lectures and hands-on demonstrations on Basic Life Support (BLS), emergency first aid, and the management of common medical emergencies and illnesses. Participants were given practical guidance on providing immediate and appropriate assistance during medical emergencies while awaiting professional responders.

Meanwhile, Princess Jolina Vacaro Mizon of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) discussed Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM), emphasizing disaster preparedness, emergency readiness, and resilience-building. The session covered various natural and human-induced hazards and explored emergency scenarios commonly encountered by Tourism-Related Enterprises (TREs), enabling participants to better understand appropriate preparedness, response, coordination, and recovery measures within tourism establishments.

The activity forms part of MTIT's continuing efforts to strengthen the preparedness and response capacity of tourism stakeholders by fostering a culture of safety, resilience, and responsible tourism management. By investing in the knowledge and competencies of tourism frontliners, the Ministry aims to enhance visitor confidence and contribute to the sustainable growth of the tourism industry across the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region.

MTIT extends its sincere appreciation to the Philippine Red Cross โ€“ Maguindanao and Cotabato City Chapter, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), and all participating Tourism-Related Enterprises for their invaluable partnership and commitment to building a safer and more resilient tourism sector.

The Ministry of Trade, Investments and Tourism โ€“ Maguindanao Provincial Office, through its Tourism Division, successfully conducted its First Batch of the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence (FBSE) Basic Training for 2026 on July 21, 2026, bringing together tourism frontliners and industry stakeholders committed to delivering warm, genuine, and world-class Filipino hospitality.

The training brought together a diverse group of participants, including hotel and accommodation personnel, travel and tour operators, food and beverage service personnel, tourism-related enterprise representatives, a Tourism Officer, and other frontline service workers.

The one-day training provided participants with valuable knowledge and practical approaches to service excellence, emphasizing Filipino values, memorable guest experiences, customer touchpoints, and effective service recovery.

More than just a training, the activity provided a space for participants to share experiences, learn from one another, and strengthen their shared commitment to creating meaningful experiences for every guest while proudly embodying the Filipino brand of hospitality.
