YOU ARE MANDATED TO KEEP YOUR WINDOW SHADES UP DURING TAKE-OFF AND LANDING

"Ayoko itaas, nakakasilaw eh." That's what some passengers say when they don't want to follow the flight attendants' instructions to keep their window shades up during take-off and landing. But guess what? You HAVE to follow this rule. It's not just the airline telling you to do it; it's the law. And it's all for your own SAFETY.

Take-off and landing are the most dangerous parts of a flight. Most air accidents happen during these times, so safety is the top priority.

Why keep the shades up? Well, if there's an emergency and you need to get out fast, having the same lighting inside and outside the plane helps your eyes adjust quicker, making for a faster exit. Natural light can also help you figure out what's going on if you need to evacuate, especially if the cabin lights go out or it gets smoky. Plus, the difference between a dark cabin and bright exit signs could mess with your orientation.

Having the shades up also lets passengers see what's happening outside, which can be super important in an emergency. You'll know which exits are safe to use. And if something's off during take-off or landing, passengers are more likely to spot it with the shades up. They can then tell the flight crew, who can talk to the pilots, maybe even before the cockpit instruments pick up on the issue.

Last but not least, keeping window shades up is often a rule set by aviation authorities. If you don't follow it, you can get offloaded from your flight or even face arrest for disobeying air laws.

So, "nasisilaw" isn't a good reason to ignore safety rules. Even if you complain to the airline about the flight attendant making you raise your window shade, they're just gonna brush it off. You're supposed to do it, no excuses.
