Start them young. We owe it to our kids, the next generation, to let them experience and enjoy nature and involve them in protecting and nurturing it. 🌊🌳🛶

The temperature is higher than our usual summer days but our kayaking adventure continues in Abatan River. 🥵🛶

In between paddling, we slow down and enjoy the coolness under the mangrove tunnels. The afternoon heat can be bearable but we are constantly reminded that climate change is real. If this heat is making us uncomfortable and a little frustrated, how much more the wildlife that is mostly unprotected and vulnerable? 🤔

Spending a day outdoors makes us move physically but also it moves us to ask the right questions about our relationship with nature. 🍃

Experience is one of the best teachers. 🌳🛶

We had the privilege to make Abatan River a classroom for a day for the tourism students of Bohol Island State University and Mater Dei College, thanks to KEG Travel & Tours. 🙏🏽

There were many firsts for the students and teachers. It’s their first time paddling, planting a mangrove, joining a river cleanup on a kayak, exploring the Abatan River, and getting to know mangrove trees up close. Plus ALIMANGA (Abatan Mangrove And Nipa Growers Association), our partner community, got to share about nipa and nipa weaving. And the list can go on! 🤗

There were a lot of selfies and groufies taken, but there were a lot of questions, stories, and reflections shared as well. A day in nature and the local community always brings that out in us, in our guests. 🥹

We believe that tourism plays an important role in showing the best of Bohol, protecting our environment and supporting our local communities. These are all interconnected. We hope we planted a seed of curiosity, adventure, collaboration, love for nature and protecting it, and our local culture in the youth. It will take them far, it will take us, Bol-anons, far! ♥️💙💛

Uy, Philippines! 🇵🇭

Exploring the diverse waterways of our country and finding ways to protect it, in our own little ways, are our love languages for the Philippines. From Coron and El Nido in Palawan to the Abatan River and the beautiful coastline of Bohol. We sometimes do side quests on Siargao Island too, wherever the love of kayaking and adventure leads us! 🛶🫶🏽

Despite sometimes feeling frustrated and exhausted about the struggles and challenges of living in a country like ours, we continue to find hope, joy, beauty, and courage in what is entrusted to us to steward: our people, our seas, our rivers, our oceans, and nature! 🍃🌊

Come explore our country with us. We love sharing it with YOU! 🥹
