Turning it down a notch, we opted for a more scenic trip for Day 3. We took a 2 hour van to the town of Basey, the pick up point for our next stop. The tourism office was accomodating enough to arrange for our trip starting with a habal habal to the Sohoton Cave Dock. We then rode a boat going to the the cave itself. From the dock, we had to wait for our turn to go inside the cave.

They assigned a guide to explore the cave bountiful of stalactites and stalagmites.

After the cave we took our quick lunch before doing the kayak up stream to see the Natural Bridge.

We definitely cannot say 'No' to Joni Abesamis of Trexplore. We did caving for him a few years back and we knew we'd come back for more adventure.

Day 2 of our Samar-Tacloban-Leyte Trip. We stayed at LCD Hotel in Catbalogan. Canyoning has always been one of our bucketlist and whoelse better to guide us on our adventure but Joni.

After a power breakfast at his house (included in the package), we rode a tricycle to San Andres Town in Catbalogan where we start our hike. We followed the pipes going up the falls which was both dirty and slippery as it rained the previous day. We didn't know what to expect until a few meters away from where we gear up, when saw we've been hiking parallel to the the river on our left.

At the top, was the town's filtration system. We geared up and was oriented with how we will do our rappel.

In summary, we did a total of 3 rappels and 3 jumps. Not mentioning the quick swim descending the falls.

Definitely worth every penny!

Day 1 of the Samar-Tacloban-Leyte Adventure for 2016

We start the day crossing the famous San Juanico Bridge; the longest bridge in the Philippines connecting Samar and Leyte.

Then, we make our way to Paranas. 2-hour drive north of Samar and head straight to Ulot River.

Rented 2 boats including the gear and guides for the Turpedo Boating.

Stopped at Villa Escober Cold Spring to wash up but it was closed for a private function. We still managed to get a few shots of the venue.
