This April 27, Bangkong Kahoy Valley will be having its first music night “Banahaw Tugtugan, Aabot sa Liwanag ng Buwan”, for the benefit of Bangkong Kahoy youth educational assistance and forest protection initiatives.
The concert will be filled with jazz, folk and world music featuring world-class music jazz drummer, Mr. Mar Dizon and Hermit the Band, Talahib Peoples Music and home-grown talents of Dolores, Quezon, Jossabell Patulot, Geneve Guico and Ruby Pionela.
Since 2006, BK Valley which lies between the mountains Cristobal and Banahaw, started its initiative to conserve and protect the forest by providing sustainable livelihood for the forest-dweller community. Home to different species of flora and fauna especially birds; BK Valley also produces organic vegetables all year round and wild raspberry seasonally. Men and women in the community are helping each other to have bountiful harvest while the youth are into the eco-tourism BK Valley offers. They are also responsible on protecting their natural resources by educating their co-youth and nearby communities about the importance of environment.
The BK Valley youth go to school through the income they get from agricultural products and eco-tourism. This year, most of them graduated from high school and will pursue college education to further contribute on their community. And this benefit concert will be a significant activity to gather funds for their educational assistance.
Experience the cool climate, fill your tummy with organic produced fruits and vegetables, go bird watching or star gazing and roll on the rolling hills! With side trip in Lake Pandin and Lake Sampaloc at San Pablo, Laguna.
