Kung di kaya sa budget ang airfare, may ibang option naman mag barko nasa 3,000 lang budget meal Manila to Siargao ‼️😅 At message lang for budget tour😅.

A roundtrip air ticket to Siargao costs P30,000? The Department of Transportation (DOTr) wants to know, as it summoned airlines to a meeting next week.

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon is leading talks on Aug. 26 with domestic carriers to ask why fares are reaching P30,000 for a roundtrip ticket to top tourist destinations like Siargao.

“I want to know why their fares are so expensive. At times, it is cheaper to go to Japan than to Siargao. To Siargao, it costs P25,000 to P30,000,” Dizon told The Philippine STAR on Monday, Aug. 18.

Dizon said the meeting with airlines would aim to lower the cost of flying, especially as Filipinos are likely traveling somewhere during the holiday season. He wants to know from carriers what the DOTr can do to make fares more affordable. | via One News

MJ LASTIMOSA RAISES CONCERN OVER EXPENSIVE LOCAL AIRFARE TO SIARGAO

Former Miss Universe Philippines MJ Lastimosa expressed surprise at the steep cost of domestic flights after checking prices for a round-trip ticket to Siargao—around ₱40,000. On X, she wrote,
"Last time I've been to Siargao was pre pandemic pa. So lately I [am] kinda considering visiting the island again. The date I was checking would be around 40k round trip for one person."

She added,
"Ang pricey nya! Wala ba tayong batas na magreregulate ng mga ganito? Abuso pero wala kang choice kasi wala din naman ibang option."

Her post struck a chord with many netizens who shared similar frustrations. One commented,
"Imagine from SG to Taiwan, 6K. SG to Davao, 15K pesos. Kaya mas napapadalas gala ko sa neighbouring countries kesa umuwi sa Pinas."

Another added,
"Tapos laging sasabihin Pilipinas na muna or support local. Flight fare mo pa lang buong gastos mo na sa ibang bansa."

The viral discussion reignited calls for more affordable domestic travel and better options to support local tourism.

After mag Siargao!
Let's cross to Palawan kung saan mapupuntahan dun Ang El Nido at Coron.

I was surprised to learn that many people mistakenly believe Coron and El Nido are on the same island. Some book flights to Coron expecting to cross to El Nido easily, while others arrive in Puerto Princesa but intend to go to Coron.

Let’s clear up this common misconception!
