Korean culture is one of the major influence in the Philippine industry and culture for the past few years. Korea became one of the most popular destinations for many foreign travellers. Hallyu or the Korean wave has greatly popularized Korean drama and Kpop music along with Korean fashion, techonology and food across of various ages and background in the Philippines. This phenomenon raised the le
vel of interest among Filipinos and up to the point of learning the Korean language, food, culture and dance has brought in lines of enrollees in different institutions such as; The Korean Cultural Center, TESDA (Technical Education and Skills Development Authority) and Universities in every semester. Whether it be for working in a Korean company, visiting Korea for tourism or to better understand Korean songs and drama, one thing is certain: their interest is heightened to improve their Korean language skills. The Korean Orators Association based in the Philippines together with the Filipino-Korean Cultural Foundation Inc., is holding the annual Philippine-Korean Speech Contest to select the Philippine representatives to the World Korean Speech Contest to encourage both Filipinos and Koreans to participate and share their knowledge and experiences to promote both countries’ culture and tourism.
