Datu Mayoma was one of the Moro tribe who held and fight the American soldiers at the time of American invasion. His remain is in Barangay Linao where he holds and fight with American troops. During the American escalation the lanao del Norte, Datu Mayoma had learned that the American troops were going direction to Tangcal, then he goes to the middle of mountain they called it now Barangay Linao to deck for his small Camp. Few days later, American troops are now reached barangay Linao where small Camp Datu Mayoma located and he is there alone and waiting them. According to the old elders story, Datu Mayoma made a traditional ceremonial first (Sagayan in maranao term) before he start to fight against American troops, however and on other hand, easy to the American troops to kill him since ceremonial takes almost an hour, for that when he starts to strike using his sword aiming to the American soldiers, on process they just fire at him because they are ready and watching.
Other Martrys were Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) and Moro Islamic Liberation Front (M**F) Commanders who fought for the freedom of the BANGSAMORO people.

Tangcal is a meranao term, which literally means a "fortress" which was the common practice of the inhabitants by protecting their lives, properties and other belongings from the sudden attack of foreign oppression and aggression from either man or wild beast. According to Tarsila or salsila, which serve as a primordial record bases of the genealogical history of the Maranao. The first maranao couple inhabitants who migrated and explored the placed were named safaatulah and simpana bai, during those days, Tangcal area was thickly covered with lush forest, vegetation and co-existed by wild beast/Animals which was the eminent treat and risk to the lives and properties of the inhabitants, so the couple together with their followers cut trees or logs to be used as fence to fortify and enclave their houses together with their farmland and farm animals from the destructive attack of outside entities.

The municipality of tangcal, Lanao del Norte is merely a barrio of the municipality of kolambugan in urban area and municipality of munai in the interior areas, it became a Municipal district on june 16, 1956, by virtue of Republic Act No. 1537 which was later on amended by Republic Act No. 2047 to include some additional places as barrios. It is located 51 kilometers in the southwest of iligan City, the progressive industrial center in Region 10 Geographically, Tangcal is bounded by the municipalities of Kolambugan and Maigo on the north, Munai on the east, Nunungan on the south and magsaysay on the west. Politically it is subdivided into eighteen barangay: Bayabao, Berwar, Big banisilon, Big Meladuc, Bubong, Lamaosa, Linao, Lindongan, Lingco-an, Papan, Pelingkingan, Poblacion, Poona-kapatagan, Punod, small banisilon, Small meladuc, Somiorang and Tangcal proper.
