The Department of Tourism (DOT) Cagayan Valley has taken a major step toward developing a market-ready tourism circuit in Tumauini, Isabela following a four-day site assessment of the municipality’s cultural, natural, adventure, and indigenous attractions from July 21 to 24.

The Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 2, through its Product and Market Development (PMD) Unit, conducted the Assessment and Development of Ecotourism Destinations and Tourism Trails in the Municipality of Tumauini under the Tourism Circuit Development Assistance Program of the DOT Central Office.

The activity highlights the collaborative efforts of the Department of Tourism and the Local Government Unit of Tumauini in promoting the municipality's ecotourism potential, identifying sustainable tourism opportunities, and strengthening initiatives that will further position Tumauini as a premier ecotourism destination.

This undertaking also supports the vision of Mayor Venus T. Bautista to further strengthen and promote the tourism industry of the Municipality of Tumauini. Through strategic tourism development, sustainable destination planning, and the enhancement of the municipality's natural and cultural attractions, the local government continues to create opportunities that will boost the local economy, empower communities, and establish Extraordinary Tumauini as a competitive and sustainable tourism destination in Region 2.

During the assessment, each site was evaluated based on its tourism appeal, visitor experience, accessibility, safety, sustainability, and readiness for inclusion in the municipality's tourism circuit.

The successful completion of the site assessment marks a significant milestone in the development of the Tumauini Tourism Circuit. The assessment's findings and recommendations will serve as the basis for the municipality's Tourism Circuit Development Plan, providing a strategic roadmap for future tourism initiatives. This plan aims to enhance visitor experiences, strengthen local tourism products, and promote sustainable, inclusive, and community-based tourism development in the Municipality of Tumauini.
