Documentary on Charsadda District
Charsadda is another district in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province documented in this short video. Located in the Valley of Peshawar, Charsadda lies about 29 kilometers from the provincial capital of Peshawar at an altitude of 276 meters.
The district is geographically organized into two primary parts: Hashtnagar and Duaba. The city hosts the ruins of what was once the ancient Gandharan capital city of Pushkalavati (meaning Lotus City in Sanskrit), and home of the Sanskrit grammarian Pāṇini.
The earliest archaeological deposits recovered at Charsadda are dated to ca. The later history of Charsadda can be traced back to the 6th century BCE. It was the capital of Gandhara from the 6th century BCE to the 2nd century CE. The ancient name of Charsadda was Pushkalavati, which was once the administrative center of the Gandhara civilisation.
The lush green fields in the backyard of mud mounds of Charsadda Fort is the first segment in the video documentary that is a living example of ancient era, glory past and civilization.
The second click is on the Rajjar sweets and special rice for which the district is famous all over the country. The sweets known as Rajjar Methai is so popular that it is being sent abroad as gift by local people to their near and dear ones.
The making process of famous and tasty Charsadda rice can also be seen in the video. Charsadda Mota chawal or rice is another famous delicacy of the district.
Then comes the magnificent structure of Pushkalavati Museum, the ancient name of Charsadda, and Sardaryab picnic spot. The beautiful colorful boats at Sardaryab River is a welcome sight in the district where thousands of tourists and picnickers come and enjoy a ride in the river.
The tourists also enjoy steak and fried fresh fish at the makeshift eateries established along the banks of river and roadside.
