Overview of the NATCO Sost–Tashkurgan route

The service is operated by NATCO in coordination with Chinese transport partners. It runs across one of the highest paved international crossings in the world via Khunjerab Pass, linking Sost with Tashkurgan.

The route is typically part of a longer international service (Gilgit ↔ Kashgar), but passengers also use it specifically for the Sost–Tashkurgan segment during border operations.

NATCO operates a daily passenger service from Sost to Tashkurgan, except on Saturday n Sunday. As per the bilateral agreements between Pakistan and China, the border remains closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Travelers are advised to plan their journey accordingly to ensure a smooth cross-border travel experience.

Northern Areas Transport Corporation Introduces Modern Coasters for Pak-China Travel

According to a press statement, the Northern Areas Transport Corporation (NATCO) has fulfilled its promise to enhance travel services by taking a significant step forward.

Under the leadership of Managing Director Aziz Ahmed Jamali, four modern Toyota Coasters have been added to the fleet for the Sost-to-China route.

This initiative comes in light of the announcement that the Pak-China border will remain open for 12 months this year, a move considered crucial for promoting trade and tourism activities. The new coasters aim to provide passengers with a comfortable and safe travel experience, and NATCO management believes this will contribute positively to the region’s economic and social development.
