We respectfully request the Government to reconsider decisions that may negatively impact businesses and the tourism industry, especially during the peak travel days of 14th, 15th, and 16th August.
The tourism industry is already going through extremely difficult circumstances. Thousands of businesses and millions of people are directly or indirectly dependent on tourism for their livelihoods. These national holidays are an important opportunity for tourism-related businesses, hotels, restaurants, transport operators, tour companies, and local communities to earn their livelihood.
Islamabad is the main gateway and connecting point for people travelling towards the northern areas of Pakistan. If Islamabad is completely closed during these crucial days, it will become extremely difficult for tourists to travel towards destinations in the north. Many families have already planned their vacations around these dates.
We fully understand the importance of security and public safety, and we respect the Government’s responsibilities in this regard. However, we humbly request that any decision should also take into consideration its impact on businesses, tourism, employment, and the livelihoods of ordinary citizens.
Please do not make decisions that unintentionally make it even harder for people who are already struggling to earn a living.
Before imposing any major restriction, kindly consider all stakeholders and explore alternatives that can ensure security without bringing the tourism industry and related businesses to a standstill.
We request the authorities to keep tourism routes and businesses operational wherever possible, while maintaining necessary security arrangements.
Tourism is not just a business; it is the livelihood of millions of Pakistanis.
Please consider the concerns of the tourism community before making any final decision.
