Laylatul Qadr, the Night of Power, is a profound occasion in the Islamic calendar, commemorating the revelation of the Quran to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). This night is described in the Quran as “better than a thousand months” (Al-Qadr 97:3), highlighting its immense spiritual significance. It is believed that on this night, the angels descend, and divine decrees are established for the coming year. Muslims are encouraged to seek out Laylatul Qadr during the last ten nights of Ramadan, particularly on the odd-numbered nights, by engaging in prayer, recitation of the Quran, and sincere supplication. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised reciting the following dua on Laylatul Qadr: “Allahumma innaka ’afuwwun tuhibbul ‘afwa fa’fu ’anni” (O Allah, You are Forgiving and love forgiveness, so forgive me) [Tirmidhi]. Observing this night with devotion offers an unparalleled opportunity for spiritual growth and forgiveness.
