a seven-time world champion and two-time Olympic gold medalist in biathlon from Germany, has tragically been declared dead after being hit by a rock fall while descending from the 6049m Laila Peak. Laura and her climbing partner, Krauss, were descending on Monday when the incident occurred, triggered by a rope maneuver. Laura's body remained motionless at the site of the impact, prompting authorities to launch a rescue operation involving Pakistani Military helicopters. However, adverse weather conditions and continuous rock fall hindered all rescue attempts. Based on observations from helicopter pilots, it is likely that Laura died instantly. The family has decided not to retrieve her body, respecting her written wish to not have anyone risk their life for her rescue. Laura, born in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, was a renowned biathlete who transitioned to alpinism and ski touring after retiring from professional sports in 2019. Laila Peak, standing at 6096m, is a challenging mountain in the Hushe region, known for its steep northwest face. RIP Laura!

Nangma Valley, one of the most famous tourist destinations in Gilgit-Baltistan, is located in the remote village of Kanday in District Ghanche. Its beauty is truly unique. Every year, both local and international tourists visit Baltistan to enjoy the breathtaking views and natural charm of Nangma Valley.

Today, a group of young men from Kanday set out on a self-help mission to clean the paths leading to Nangma Valley and nearby areas. They left their homes early in the morning and reached the valley after a 6-hour journey. They rested overnight and began cleaning the valley and its access routes the next morning.

This was a self-initiated campaign involving around 18 boys, all from Kanday. Through this voluntary cleanup of a tourist site, they sent a clear message to the world: "Save the environment — the world is yours."
