The Karakoram is a place of profound beauty and unforgiving tragedy, and today we mourn ten climbers lost to an avalanche at 7,000 meters. Every single life on that mountain was equally precious, and the scale of this tragedy is devastating. We honor the memories of Nadhira Al Harthy, Pur Bahadur Gurung, Mallory Geis, Kili Pemba Sherpa, Nima Sherpa, Nawang Thindu Sherpa, Gyalu Sherpa, Sohail Sakhi, Wang Zhong, and Nirmal Purja.
While we grieve each of these incredible individuals, we also take a moment to celebrate Nims—a true legend who redefined what is humanly possible in the high peaks and inspired a generation. Thank you for showing the world that nothing is impossible.
Sending all my prayers to the families of everyone we lost during this incredibly dark time. May all of their spirits find eternal rest among the mountains they loved
