Congratulations to 🇮🇷 Afsaneh Hesamifard who successfully summited Mt Cho Oyu (8,188 m) this morning, 14.10.2025, and completed all 14 eight-thousanders — becoming the FIRST Iranian woman to achieve this historic feat.

On July 03, 1953, 🇦🇹 Hermann Buhl stood alone atop Nanga Parbat.

The first human to ever summit the “Killer Mountain.” No oxygen. No Sherpa. No partner. Just grit, will, and a soul built for the impossible.

A 41-hour solo climb through thin air and avalanche-prone slope, unthinkable then, still legendary now.

But what he left behind reshaped the very soul of alpinism:

— First to solo an 8000er, Nanga Parbat (1953).

— First to climb two 8000ers (with Broad Peak, 1957).

—both first ascents, both without bottled oxygen.

Buhl didn’t just climb for glory. He climbed to prove what was possible with soul, with style, with purity.
