Xosgang Lake - The Hidden Gem of Hltaghari Longma, Thallay Valley
Xosgang Lake is one of Gilgit-Baltistan’s most untouched and beautiful lakes, located in the remote area of Hltaghari Longma, Thallay Valley, District Ghanche. It is about 6 to 7 hours away from Skardu and 3 to 4 hours away from Ghanche. You first reach Hltaghari Village by vehicle, and from there the real adventure starts. From Hltaghari Village to Xosgang Lake it is a 2 to 3 hour trek through stunning alpine terrain. During the trek you pass by majestic towering mountains, wide green meadows full of colorful wildflowers, and open landscapes that look like a painting. Crystal clear rivers also flow right beside the trail, with water coming straight down from the lake, adding life to the whole journey. When you finally reach the lake, you are welcomed by a giant natural mirror — the water is so still and clear that it perfectly reflects the sky, clouds, and surrounding cliffs. The foreground is covered with soft green moss and scattered rocks, while the mountains glow golden at sunrise and sunset. There are no shops, no hotels, no signal — just silence, fresh mountain air, and raw beauty. Xosgang Lake is proof that Gilgit-Baltistan still has places that feel far away from the world and very close to nature.
