The legendary late Nirmal Pujrja Born in the Myagdi district of Nepal, Nirmal "Nimsdai" Purja (25 July 1983 – 30 July 2026) was not just a successful mountaineer, he was a symbol of Nepali courage, confidence and making the impossible possible.
After serving in the British Gurkha Army and then the British Special Boat Service (SBS), he dedicated his life to the mountains. In 2019, he set a world record by climbing all 14 mountains above 8,000 meters in just 6 months and 6 days. This achievement made Nepal proud to the world. The documentary "14 Peaks: Nothing Is Impossible" based on his life also inspired millions of people around the world.
However, fate had another story in store.
On 30 July 2026, Nimsdai and other mountaineers tragically died in a powerful avalanche in the Broad Peak region of Pakistan. He was in the mountains until the end—the same mountains that made him world famous, and ultimately the same mountains that embraced him forever.
With the passing of Nimsdai, Nepal has lost a great climber, the world has lost a unique brave person and the youth has lost an inspiring role model. But his record, struggle, courage and belief that "Nothing Is Impossible" will never be erased.

You may not be with us physically, but your courage, inspiration and contribution will always live on in the hearts of Nepalis.
