Great Trango Tower
6,286m / 20,623ft. Home to the world’s greatest nearly vertical cliff.
Trango Tower / Nameless Tower 6,239m / 20,469ft. Most famous for rock climbing — an extremely sharp, symmetrical spire.
- Trango Monk: 5,850m / 19,193ft
- Trango II*: 6,327m / 20,757ft — actually the highest peak in the group
- Why climbers are obsessed with it: The east face of Great Trango is the world’s tallest vertical cliff — about 1,340m / 4,400ft of pure granite. Nameless Tower is counted among the hardest big-wall climbs on Earth.
- First ascents
- Great Trango: 1977 by Galen Rowell, John Roskelley, Kim Schmitz, Dennis Hennek
- Nameless Tower: 1976 by British climbers Joe Brown, Martin Boysen, Mo Anthoine, Malcolm Howells
- Climbing style: Mostly technical big-wall and alpine climbing. Routes like _Eternal Flame_ on Nameless Tower are legendary — 24 pitches at 6,000m altitude.
- *Trekking access*: You get there via the Baltoro Glacier trek from Askole. It takes about 7-8 days of trekking from Skardu. Porters and guides from Hushe and Askole villages know it best.

Locals call it "Trango" or "Trangos". For Baltis, these towers have always been there — but they became world famous when Western climbers called them the “most beautiful rock formations on Earth.”
