During my last couple of visits to Swat, whenever I passed the historic and symbolic city of Mingora; I felt disappointed that it's inmates are not taking care of the aesthetics of the city.
There are encroachments, traffic jams, pollution, dust, garbage in the streets and hustle and bustle in the city. The canal which passes in the city is full of garbage and smell. Which makes tourist skip past the city and move to the rural side of Swat and this is a great loss of revenue for the local businessmen which they don't realize. I and people like me who want to visit Swat to get away from the urban hustle and bustle and pollution of the cities to find asylum of nature in combination with history find it disappointing that even travelling hundreds of miles to the heart of Swat we have the same feeling of suffocation in the city of Mingora.
Do you people and specially my friends of Swat also have this sensation that we should take some steps for making Mingora a tourism friendly city to boost the local economy? Your suggestions will also be valuable like how can we achieve this? How can we start an initiative to make it's own people to take realize and take responsibility to make the city neat & clean and tourists friendly? Is there any organization currently working on such an initiative? We can't wait for the Government to come and change things for us; it's we the people who have to change ourselves and our environment.
